Reset skills at a Flame Altar in Enshrouded. Use individual refunds to adjust part of your build, or reset the whole tree when you want to start again. For a small change, work back from the end of the branch: a skill that supports another unlocked skill cannot be completely removed first.
This covers the PC and PS5 full release, launched on 15 October 2026, with later changes checked through hotfix 1.0.1.1 on 3 November. You can change your existing character's skills rather than create another character. Keep your Runes available before beginning a manual reset, and decide which abilities you want to retain.
Choose an individual refund or a full reset
Go to a nearby Flame Altar and use its skill-reset controls. Choose the individual route when you want to revise a few purchases while preserving the rest of the tree. Choose a full reset when you want to rebuild across several branches. These solve different jobs: taking back an unwanted investment and clearing the allocation for a new build.
A full skill-tree reset costs one Rune for each skill point you have spent. For example, a tree with 50 spent points costs 50 Runes to reset. Budget against the points already invested, rather than your character's level alone. Runes stored in magic chests can also be used for the reset, so check that supply before gathering more.
Read the Rune charge displayed for the action you are about to take. A full reset charges for the whole allocation, even when your original aim was only to change one skill. Use the individual route for that smaller job, checking its own displayed charge before refunding. Keep the two choices separate while you work through the tree. Before committing, note the abilities you are keeping and the replacement path you want to buy. That gives you a checklist when the points become available again.

Refund connected skills from the outside in
In the individual skill-reset view, select the skill you want to change. Many skills have several upgrade levels, so reducing a skill's investment and completely unlearning its node are separate decisions. Take back the levels you no longer need, then check whether you still want to retain the skill itself and the path it supports.
- Find the unwanted skill and follow its connections to the unlocked skills farther along that branch.
- Completely remove the last unlocked skill in the chain first when you want to dismantle the path.
- Work back towards the earlier skill, refunding the outer dependencies before removing their supporting node.
If an earlier node will not fully unlearn, inspect the skills beyond it before spending Runes on a full reset. Only the last skill node in a chain can be completely removed. Keep an earlier node when you still need the connected abilities; remove those outer abilities first when your intention is to abandon the branch.

Spend the returned points before leaving base
Open Skills and check your available points after refunding. Allocate them to the replacement path, then inspect the purchased nodes and any upgrade levels you intended to keep. A refund makes points available to spend again; rebuilding the useful abilities is the next part of the job. Check the tree before returning to combat.
For an older character entering 1.0, check Skills before paying for another reset. The first load into that version resets the tree automatically. Dagger skills also moved from the warrior area to the assassin area, and several skill positions and costs changed. Find the current node before recreating an older build. For locating the original character or world, use the separate Early Access save carry-over checks.
