Is Modern Warfare 4 on Game Pass?

Buy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 separately to play at launch. Your Game Pass subscription does not include it until Holiday 2027. This applies to the 23 October 2026 release, checked on 24 October, with Xbox Series X|S and PC purchase options below.

Choose an edition that includes the game

Choose Standard if you want the base game. The full Vault Edition also includes the base game alongside its additional content. Check the product name before paying: a Vault Edition Upgrade is an add-on for an existing Digital Standard Edition, so buy the full game first if you are starting with Game Pass alone.

On Xbox, you can buy through the console's Xbox Store, the Xbox app on PC or the Microsoft Store. Choose an Xbox Play Anywhere digital purchase if you want one purchase covering Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC. On PC, you can also choose the separate Steam or Battle.net release. For PS5 or Nintendo Switch 2, buy the edition for that console.

Separate online membership from game ownership

For online multiplayer on Xbox consoles, allow for Game Pass Essential or a higher tier as well as your Modern Warfare 4 purchase. That membership supplies the console's online multiplayer access; the base game is a separate purchase. Upgrading your subscription to Ultimate will not replace it at launch.

If you choose Xbox Cloud Gaming, check both requirements before subscribing: the listing requires you to purchase the game and have a cloud-enabled Essential, Premium or Ultimate plan. Treat streaming and a local installation as different ways to play your purchased game, rather than a way to claim it from the subscription catalogue.

Use Holiday 2027 for the Game Pass window

If you want to play through the Game Pass catalogue instead of buying Modern Warfare 4, plan around Holiday 2027. Wait for an exact inclusion date before arranging a subscription-only session. For another game in the meantime, check the current Game Pass additions and membership requirements.

With Game Pass Ultimate, you can still access Black Ops 7, Black Ops 6 and Modern Warfare III. Choose one of those existing catalogue entries if you want to use your membership now; choose the standalone Modern Warfare 4 purchase when you want the new release.
