If your first DMZ Operator Prestige is blocked in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, equip Rare weapons with only three attachment slots that have never had four or more attachments. Try this workaround after meeting the normal requirements. It applies across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 for the 23 October 2026 launch, checked on 25 October.

Check your first Operator Prestige

Open the Operators station or Traits side menu. Your Active Duty Operator needs 18 earned Trait Points and must be available rather than MIA. You can leave those points unspent. For your first Prestige, equip the following on that Operator and have the cash ready in your DMZ Bank:

  • Two Rare-or-better weapons, each with three attachment slots.
  • A Rare-or-better Plate Carrier and Backpack.
  • Four Rare-or-better Printer Ingredients.
  • 200,000 DMZ Cash.

Swap the weapons before retrying

For the launch workaround, choose Rare weapons with exactly three attachment slots and a history of never having four or more attachments. Check both weapons you are offering. Use that weapon condition when the first-Prestige checklist is met but your active Operator still cannot Prestige. Treat it as a workaround while the issue remains under investigation.

Before selecting Prestige, remove every extra item you want to keep from your Operator's Loadout and Backpack. Everything left on the Operator is consumed. Once you are ready, select Prestige: the required gear and cash are spent, Traits reset and one random Permanent Prestige Trait is granted to that Operator.

If Prestige remains blocked

If the swap still leaves you blocked, use the Modern Warfare 4 Bug Report form linked from Activision's Known Issues page. Describe your platform, first-Prestige checklist and the weapons you equipped. Recheck that issue entry for changes before another attempt. For a separate problem accessing the game, check the launch purchase and membership requirements.
