If Star Wars: Galactic Racer appears to hang on Steam Deck when the Epic Online Services (EOS) overlay should open, press B to cancel it and return to the game. This is the publisher's documented workaround for an overlay that does not display. It applies to the 6 October 2026 launch, with the known-issues list checked on 9 October.

Dismiss the hidden overlay

Use B when you encounter this specific apparent freeze. Secret Mode lists the problem under PC-specific issues: the EOS overlay fails to appear on Steam Deck, leaving the game looking as though it has hung. The expected result of cancelling it is a return to the game. That is the check for this workaround; it does not require changing graphics settings or installing another launcher.

The distinction is useful because a missing overlay and an actual crash can look similar. This instruction cancels the overlay; it is not a patch that makes the overlay visible. The known-issues entry does not promise that cancelling completes an account-linking process, restores an Epic friends screen or fixes every freeze. If B returns you to play, the immediate obstruction has been cleared.

If B does not return you to play

Follow the publisher's general technical-support checklist: restart the game, restart the system, and make sure both system software and Galactic Racer are fully updated. Then try to reproduce the issue and note exactly where it happens. These are general troubleshooting checks, rather than a second confirmed repair for the invisible overlay. Do not treat an unrelated crash during a race as proof that this particular workaround has failed.

For a continuing problem, use Galactic Racer support and select the "I'd like to report a bug form". Include your platform, region, the exact time, what you were doing, any error message and whether it happens consistently. Attach a screenshot or video if possible, and say that you tried B and the basic checks. Keep that evidence available in case the support team asks for more details.

TechRadar's launch review independently confirms the 6 October release, but its review platform was PS5. Its account of the game is not evidence that this Steam Deck workaround was tested there. The button instruction comes from Secret Mode's developer-labelled known-issues post, and the escalation checklist comes from the game's official support centre.
