You need to play on the same platform as your friends in Enshrouded. PC and PS5 players cannot share a co-op session at the 1.0 launch on 15 October 2026. Choose PC together or PS5 together before buying a copy for your group.
Choose your group's platform first
Ask everyone whether they will play on Steam or PlayStation 5 before you settle on a version. Enshrouded supports cooperative play on both, but crossplay between the two is unavailable at launch. If you already own the Early Access PC version, you can use that purchase for the PC 1.0 release without buying the game again.
Keen Games is working on cross-platform play, with no release estimate. For a group split between PC and PS5, plan a same-platform session if you want to play together now. Agree on that platform before spending money on an additional copy.

Count everyone before choosing a world
Your platform also determines the maximum co-op group size. PC supports up to 16 players, while PlayStation 5 supports up to eight. Count everyone who wants to join the same session, including the person organising it, before committing to a platform. A nine-person group fits within the PC limit but exceeds the PS5 limit.
| Your group | Launch co-op limit |
|---|---|
| Everyone on PC | Up to 16 players |
| Everyone on PS5 | Up to eight players |
| PC and PS5 mixed | Crossplay unavailable |
Once your group has agreed on a platform, you can plan what to do in Embervale. If you want a building project for friends to explore, see our feature on Enshrouded's Sparkworks dungeon tools for the levers, traps and interactive creations introduced with 1.0.
