Upgrade eligible packs in Apex Legends from the Pack Inventory Screen using Legend Tokens. Select the pack's Upgrade button, and make sure your Wishlist is Active before opening it. The upgrade directs one guaranteed item slot towards your selections; it does not turn a Rare pack into a Legendary pack.
This PC guide applies to Season 30, Marked, which launched on 4 August 2026, including Split 2 from 15 September. The upgrade system was introduced in Breach on 10 February, with its rules published on 9 February. The prices and eligibility below follow those official notes, checked against EA's current support material on 4 October.
Check the pack and token cost
In the Pack Inventory Screen, look for Upgrade on the pack you want to change. EA says the button appears only on eligible packs: certain Rare, Epic and Legendary Apex Packs qualify. A pack's rarity alone therefore does not establish eligibility. If the button is absent, check your Wishlist state below before treating the missing option as a fault.
| Eligible pack | Upgrade cost per pack |
|---|---|
| Rare Apex Pack | 1,500 Legend Tokens |
| Epic Apex Pack | 3,000 Legend Tokens |
| Legendary Apex Pack | 5,000 Legend Tokens |
You can upgrade multiple eligible packs together. Check the quantity and total before committing: ten Rare upgrades cost 15,000 Legend Tokens, calculated from the per-pack price. These are costs to change existing packs, rather than prices to buy new ones. If you need more tokens, EA says account levelling awards 600 per level from Level 4 onwards, including at higher levels.

Make the Wishlist Active before opening
Your Wishlist can contain five Legends and two Weapon Classes. Choose entries with items you still lack from the Apex Pack Pool. Owning every item in that pool for a selected Legend or Weapon Class makes that selection invalid, even if other cosmetics for them exist elsewhere. An invalid selection prevents the whole Wishlist from being Active.
- Active: all selections are valid and Wishlist-enabled drops use them.
- Inactive: no Wishlist has been selected, or at least one entry is invalid. Replace invalid entries with valid ones before opening.
- Unavailable: you own every Legend and Weapon Class item in the Apex Pack Pool. Pack upgrading is unavailable too.
EA's FAQ allows smaller Wishlists when there are not enough valid selections available. It gives five free edits each season, then charges 500 Legend Tokens per edit. Check whether an edit is free before changing entries repeatedly; the editing charge is separate from the pack upgrade price.
Check what the upgraded pack actually guarantees
Once upgraded, the pack uses your Active Wishlist for its guaranteed item slot. Its original rarity odds and Apex Pack guarantee rules remain in place. Spending 1,500 tokens on a Rare pack does not buy a guaranteed Legendary cosmetic, and Wishlist upgrading does not improve Heirloom odds. Spend for the cosmetic selection benefit, rather than an imagined rarity increase.
With an Active Wishlist, each selected entry has an equal chance of supplying the Wishlist item. That is not a promise of a particular skin, or of all three drops matching your preferred Legends and weapons. Check the pack's stated rarity condition and the Wishlist state when opening; an Inactive Wishlist falls back to the generic Apex Pack pool.

Separate missing content from a Wishlist mismatch
If a pack or reward disappears, restart the game and PC, check that you are using the correct EA Account, and check EA's server status. EA's missing-content guide directs players to check the Loadout tab for new items, marked with a red dot. Those are content checks, not a confirmed repair for every Wishlist error.
If content is still missing after 24 hours, contact EA support with your platform username, the missing items, how you obtained them and the approximate time. Keep any purchase confirmation if real money was involved. For an unexpected drop, also record the pack type and Wishlist state: two unrelated drops alone do not establish that the upgrade failed.
