You can earn V-Bucks in Fortnite Save the World if your account has Founder rewards, or if you still have an eligible Starter Pack quest allowance to finish. Free players earn X-Ray Tickets from the equivalent routine rewards. Start by checking which reward is actually listed on your quest.

This covers the free-to-play version introduced on 16 April 2026, with the account and quest rules checked on 29 October. The currency rules apply on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Save the World is unavailable on the original Switch, smartphones and tablets.

Check which reward route you have

Open Save the World and select Quests. Read the reward attached to the quest or challenge you want to complete. Look specifically for V-Bucks or X-Ray Tickets: both are useful currencies, but they buy different things. Use the reward shown on your own account when choosing what to play.

Non-FounderX-Ray Tickets in place of routine V-Bucks rewards; spend them on X-Ray Llamas through the Llama Shop tab.
Owner of an older Starter PackThe pack's included V-Bucks through its specific quests, up to the allowance supplied with that pack.

Check Founder entitlement separately from an old purchase receipt. The later Starter Packs sold access and a limited V-Bucks quest chain; buying one alone did not grant the ongoing Founder reward route. Founder's Packs are no longer available. Returning players should therefore check their actual quest rewards before treating a previous payment as proof of recurring V-Bucks.

Finish an older Starter Pack allowance

If you own a Save the World Starter Pack with unfinished V-Bucks quests, begin with Homebase Stormshield Defense 3 in Stonewood. Completing that mission unlocks Daily Quests, which appear each day you log in. Then follow the pack's objectives and counters, rather than expecting its full V-Bucks allowance immediately after entering the mode.

  1. Complete Homebase Stormshield Defense 3 on the Stonewood map.
  2. Open Quests, then select Quest Log in the bottom-right corner.
  3. Look for the purple book icon for your Quest Pack. Review Quest Progress and Daily Quests, then complete the listed requirements.

Read the allowance for the pack you actually own. Epic's current support lists Starter Pack quests offering up to 1,500 V-Bucks, while older packs had different amounts: the original Metal Team Leader Pack offered 1,000. Treat the counter as a finite pack reward. Once its included allowance is complete, your routine currency still follows your Founder or non-Founder status.

Choose an eligible Founder quest

For recurring Founder V-Bucks, check eligible Daily Quests, Mission Alerts, Storm Shield Defense missions and challenges. Inspect each reward before beginning: choose a task that explicitly awards V-Bucks, then complete its objective. A mission's name or its position on the map alone is not a reason to expect that currency.

Use the same check when following a public mission list. Your in-game reward tells you whether that opportunity pays V-Bucks on your account. A non-Founder seeing X-Ray Tickets has reached a different reward route, so progressing an unrelated mission will not turn those tickets into V-Bucks.

Check the balance on your other platform

V-Bucks earned through Save the World are shared across platforms. If you switch devices, use the platforms linked to the same Epic account. Purchased V-Bucks have different sharing restrictions, including Nintendo Switch purchases, so compare the earned reward separately from any currency you bought. Your displayed total can contain both.

To enter the mode, select Play and choose Save the World under Other Experiences by Epic. On PC, if your old graphics setup is stopping you getting started, use the current Fortnite rendering-mode options. Once inside, return to Quests and confirm the reward currency and the objective you intend to finish.
