To unlock a character's unique perks for other characters in Dead by Daylight, raise the original character to Prestige 1. Their three perks become immediately available at Tier 1 on every other character of the same role. You can then upgrade them through the receiving character's Bloodweb, or prestige the original character further.

This guide covers the live PC game, with official progression material checked on 5 October 2026. These sharing rules arrived with the July 2022 progression overhaul. They differ from the older system of buying orange teachable perks at character levels 30, 35 and 40. A high character level alone does not confirm that today's sharing requirement is complete.

Prestige the character who owns the perks

Choose the original owner of the unique perk you want and spend Bloodpoints on that character's Bloodweb. Progress through the webs until you finish Level 50, then purchase the prestige node. This returns the character's level to 1 and raises their Prestige level. Check the Prestige counter rather than your account level: those measure different things.

Prestige 1 shares all three unique perks together. A Survivor shares with other Survivors; a Killer shares with other Killers. The receiving character does not need to find those Tier 1 perks in a Bloodweb first. Switch to another character of the same role and check their available perks to confirm the unlock, rather than spending more points looking for the first tier.

You keep your existing perks, items, add-ons, offerings and perk slots when you prestige. The level reset therefore does not mean losing the build you have already unlocked. Behaviour also confirms that perks shared through this system are available to characters added later, so unlocking a new character does not require prestiging every original owner again.

Choose how to reach Tier 3

Prestige 1 is enough to start using the shared perks. Higher tiers can then appear randomly in the receiving character's Bloodweb. Purchase those perk nodes when they appear. Alternatively, take the original owner to Prestige 2 to share Tier 2 automatically, then Prestige 3 to share Tier 3 automatically. There is no requirement to reach Prestige 3 before using a shared perk.

The useful choice is where to invest your Bloodpoints. If you mainly play one receiving character, upgrading through their Bloodweb lets you work on that character's inventory too. If you want the original owner's perks at the highest tier across your roster, Prestige 3 provides that shared result directly. Random Bloodweb appearances mean neither route promises a fixed number of matches.

When buying manually, watch the other nodes. Behaviour's Bloodweb guide explains that the Entity begins taking nodes from Level 10 and can consume another perk after you buy one. You cannot purchase a node once it has been consumed. Check the perk's name and tier before spending; do not assume every higher-tier perk shown on the same web will remain obtainable.

Use the Shrine without owning the character

The Shrine of Secrets offers a separate route using Iridescent Shards. Open it from a character lobby. The 7.7.0 patch moved it out of the Store, so older instructions sending you into the Store describe the previous layout. Its normal weekly selection contains two Killer and two Survivor perks, including perks from DLC characters you do not own.

Buying a perk there immediately makes the purchased tier available to every character of the appropriate role. Higher tiers can appear in their Bloodwebs, or you can buy further tiers from the Shrine. Behaviour's Shrine guide lists a standard first-tier price of 2,000 Shards before prestige-related discounts on upgrades. Read the tier and price displayed before confirming; buying a perk does not buy its original character.

Check whether the perk is still unique

General perks already belong to the Bloodweb pool rather than one character's prestige rewards. There is also a current licence exception: The Shape and Laurie Strode were removed from sale on 19 January 2026. Behaviour's Halloween removal FAQ says their perks became General Perks for non-owners, with new names and flavour text, obtainable through the relevant characters' Bloodwebs.

Existing owners retain the original perk names and flavour text. If an older guide names one of those perks, compare its description before assuming you must buy a now-unavailable character. GINX TV's teachable-perk guide explains the Prestige and Shrine routes, but its July 2024 update predates this licence change. Check the current official exception alongside the general sharing rules.
