If the HORI flight stick keeps yawing left in Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve on Windows PC, update its firmware through HORI Control Center. HORI's 7 October 2026 notice identifies a FLIGHT Mode (DirectInput) fault and fixes it in firmware V1.60.
Match the stick and symptom
This notice covers HORI's Ace Combat 8 Flight Stick for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC, the SPF-034 family. The affected input is yaw from twisting the stick. It does not establish a fix for other flight sticks, a missing controller or every cause of unwanted movement.
The game launched on 2 October 2026, according to Bandai Namco. These instructions apply to the Windows device issue documented after that launch. Tom's Guide's 3 October PC account praises the game's controller response, but does not test this firmware repair. The update procedure below comes from HORI.

Update through HORI Control Center
Get HORI Control Center from HORI's official download page. Its listed app version is 1.1.42; update the app before first use. This number belongs to the Windows application, whereas V1.60 is the stick's firmware. Checking the app alone does not confirm that the device update has finished.
- Install and launch HORI Control Center.
- Set the stick's rear selector to PS5 Mode, then connect it to the PC.
- Open Settings in Control Center, choose Update Version and follow the prompts.
- Check that Firmware Version displays V1.60 after completion.
PS5 Mode is the update connection HORI specifies, even though the reported fault occurs in FLIGHT Mode on PC. The firmware version is the documented completion check. A blue Version Update button means the firmware is not current.
Retry a failed update or contact HORI
If the update fails, HORI says to disconnect and reconnect the stick, then retry. If Control Center itself closes unexpectedly while updating through a USB hub, its separate app support page says to connect the controller directly to the PC. Restarting the app and closing other running programs are also documented checks.
For a persistent failure, use HORI Customer Support, linked from the firmware notice. Keep the device model, displayed firmware version and the stage that failed available when describing the problem. The notice gives no firmware downgrade route or separate calibration repair, so neither is part of this procedure.
