Mewgenics is now available digitally on PlayStation 5. The turn-based tactics game arrived on PC in February, and its console release adds PS5, Xbox Series and Switch 2 versions on 8 September. PlayStation Store lists the PS5 edition at $39.99, while developer updates and independent hands-on coverage point to a console-focused control option that changes how the mouse-led game is handled on a sofa. For PS5 players, the useful news is not simply a new platform badge: the port has a specific way to move the cursor without putting down the controller.
The PS5 version offers a new Console control option alongside the original scheme, according to RPG Site's testing. It also supports the DualSense touch pad for cursor movement, as well as keyboard and mouse input. That gives players a choice between a controller-first layout and a more PC-like way to point at abilities, items and cats during a run. The touch pad is not presented as a replacement for a mouse, but it is a practical middle ground for a game built around selecting small tactical targets and navigating a densely populated home base.
The Store describes the game as a roguelike tactics title in which players breed cats, draft abilities and collect items for turn-based adventures. Game Informer's review found the combat's changing classes, items, moves and field events consistently rewarding, while taking issue with parts of the breeding humour and presentation. That split is worth knowing before treating the PS5 launch as a general recommendation: this is a large, systems-heavy strategy game whose appeal rests on building unusual cat parties and learning how their combinations alter each run, not a short action game with a feline theme.
Players moving from PC also have a documented route to continue a Steam save. RPG Site reports that a Steam account can be linked to transfer each of the game's three save slots to PS5, although it notes that saves must be handled slot by slot rather than automatically. The same outlet reports that a physical PS5 edition is planned for the first quarter of 2027. The digital version is available now, but players who specifically want a disc should not mistake a retailer placeholder date for a final release date until Nicalis confirms one.
