Extra firepower no longer reduces Palworld expedition time. If you are adding stronger Pals and the displayed duration stays the same, stop treating that as a failed speed upgrade: an overpowered team now increases the quantity of rewards instead. This guide covers the PC Steam 1.0 release of 10 July 2026, with later notes checked through v1.0.5, released on 15 September.

Check which timer problem you have

At the Pal Expedition Station, distinguish the duration offered for a dispatch from the remaining time on an expedition already underway. The documented change explains why extra team strength does not shrink the first number. It does not establish that an active countdown should freeze. A timer that never advances is a separate symptom, and there is no verified universal repair for it in the patch notes checked for this guide.

When comparing teams, keep the destination the same. Otherwise you are comparing different expeditions rather than isolating what extra firepower does. Do not spend more resources strengthening Pals solely to chase the shorter duration promised by an old guide. Stronger dispatch teams can still be useful, but their documented benefit here is more items per expedition.

Use firepower for rewards

Pocketpair changed this rule in v0.6.4 on 30 July 2025. Its official notes explicitly replaced the time reduction from an overpowered team with increased reward quantity. That means an unchanged duration, by itself, is not evidence that your stronger team has been ignored. Compare the reward information as well as the timer when deciding whether that team suits the expedition you want to run.

For choosing candidates, the 1.0 update added Expedition Power as a sorting option in the Pal Box. Use that named option when reviewing your Pals for dispatch. It gives you a relevant way to organise the box without treating a combat recommendation from another guide as an expedition calculation. The official notes do not provide a firepower formula or a maximum reward multiplier, so no particular percentage is promised here.

Check speed advice against the changed rule

Dot Esports' expedition guide, dated 30 July 2026 and labelled for 1.0, still says exceeding the recommended firepower directly reduces completion time. That particular instruction conflicts with Pocketpair's earlier change. A recent date or a 1.0 label does not make it a reliable reason to keep adding Pals until the timer falls.

This correction concerns firepower, rather than proving that expedition duration can never be reduced by another system. Version 1.0 also rebalanced the Pal Labor Research Laboratory and added research levels and effects. The checked official notes do not establish a current expedition-speed research route, its prerequisites or a percentage reduction. Treat a specific old research path as something to verify in your current game, rather than applying its costs or bonuses automatically.

Recognise a completed expedition

The 1.0 update added notifications when Pals return from expeditions. That return notice is a useful completion cue; it is a different event from the pre-dispatch duration becoming shorter. If an active countdown genuinely stalls, record the destination, remaining time, game version and whether you are playing solo or on a server. Those details describe the fault without assuming that adding firepower will fix it.
