Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is now available through PC Game Pass. Xbox announced the addition in its 1 September Game Pass update, listing 8 September for the game on PC, cloud and console. On a Windows PC, the relevant subscription tiers are PC Game Pass, Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass Premium. The change gives subscribers access to the shooter through the Xbox ecosystem; it is a catalogue addition, not a new patch, a Steam release or a claim that the game's paid add-ons are included.
For PC players, the practical point is that Cold War can now be installed through a qualifying Game Pass subscription instead of being bought as a separate Windows-store licence. Microsoft's Windows product page identifies the publisher as Activision Publishing and lists PC among its supported platforms, while its subscription panel names Premium, PC Game Pass and Ultimate. Windows Central independently reported the September lineup on 1 September and recorded the same tiers. The announcement also includes cloud and console access, but neither should be confused with an extra PC edition or a new platform release.
Cold War's arrival fills a particular gap in the Call of Duty catalogue rather than marking the series' latest launch. PC Gamer reported in April that Activision planned to add more older Call of Duty titles to Game Pass during 2026 after Microsoft changed the service's approach to future annual releases. The Windows store page already carried a distinct Cold War product before this week's subscription change, so 8 September is the date of Game Pass availability, not the first day the game could be played on PC. That difference matters for anyone comparing subscription access with an existing store purchase.
Microsoft's September post gives no date for Cold War to leave the catalogue. It does, however, separately list several games leaving on 15 September, including Frostpunk 2 from PC Game Pass; Cold War is not among them. Subscribers should therefore treat the new listing as current access under the named plans, while recognising that Game Pass availability is tied to an active subscription and a rotating library. The addition gives PC players another way into the campaign, multiplayer and Zombies package without changing the game itself.
