AION 2 opens Atreia's skieson 5 October

In AION 2, wings are part of the fighting, not merely a quicker way across the map. NC describes an Atreia built for aerial combat, with battles and exploration extending above the ground. The PC release is scheduled for 5 October, although buying a Founder's Pack opens access on 30 September. For anyone who remembers the first game's Elyos and Asmodians, the sequel keeps their rivalry while giving its skyward movement a much larger world to fill.

NC calls the new world 36 times larger than the original AION's. That is a publisher comparison, not a promise that every corner is equally busy. The useful detail is how the company says players will use the space: flight affects positioning in combat as well as travel. NC's Steam description also names chained skills and timing as parts of the action. A big map would be a fairly empty selling point on its own; a fight that asks you to consider altitude is easier to picture.

Wings, dungeons and two factions

The faction choice remains Elyos or Asmodians. NC lists online PvP, cooperative play and the Abyss alongside solo instances and group dungeons. Its Steam page claims more than 200 dungeons across several formats, including five-player party content and ten-player group challenges. The official teaser site gives those claims some names and places: Krao Cave, Urugugu Canyon, Fire Temple and Draupnir are presented as Expeditions, each with its own boss and setting.

Seasoned Gaming watched a developer-led demonstration at Summer Game Fest rather than playing the finished release. Its account describes active dodges, marked danger zones and a boss fight that required the group to move and coordinate. It also reports faction-specific servers and several PvP modes, including invasions through rifts. Those observations add texture to NC's broad feature list, but a short presentation cannot tell us how often flight changes ordinary encounters or how smoothly a crowded faction battle will run.

There is room for quieter MMO habits too. NC says its pets can become mounts and provide benefits such as automatic looting; the Steam listing promises character creation with more than 200 options. Seasoned Gaming saw detailed appearance controls, armour dyes and shareable character designs in its demonstration. That mix of fashion, collecting and large battles is a more precise picture of AION 2's intended routine than calling it simply an action MMO. How much time each activity demands remains to be seen.

What 30 September buys

The base game is listed as free to play on Steam, with in-app purchases. NC's Standard Founder's Pack gives five days of advance access, a 30-day membership, a supply chest and a title. Higher tiers add cosmetic sets, weapon skins, a pet and wings. The official site says the Standard Pack is included in the Deluxe tier, which in turn is included in Ultimate. The release date on Steam remains 5 October for players who wait for the free launch.

That split matters to a player deciding whether to spend money before the servers open to everyone. The confirmed pack contents explain the early start and named extras; they do not establish the long-term cost of keeping pace in an MMO with a membership and purchases. Seasoned Gaming also flagged the paid model as unclear after its July demonstration. NC has since detailed the launch packs, but their listings alone cannot settle how the wider economy will feel after weeks of play.

AION 2 has already been live in Korea and Taiwan since November 2025, according to Seasoned Gaming, so this PC launch is the international arrival of an existing game rather than a first public unveiling. Its most distinctive documented attraction is still simple: take the faction war into the air, then return to dungeons, character building and the social routines around them. The free release gives curious players an entry point on 5 October. Paying five days earlier is a separate decision, and the current evidence gives the flight far more definition than the long-term spending.
