Xbox has begun testing Mythic Achievements with Insiders, giving players a permanent completion marker for unlocking every achievement in a game's original list. The preview announced on 29 September excludes achievements added later through DLC or updates, so a new expansion cannot take an earned Mythic away.
That is a different requirement from the completion highlighting Xbox announced for Insiders in April. The earlier feature highlighted a title after a player earned all its available Gamerscore. Mythic sets its finish line at the original achievement list instead of asking players to keep up with everything subsequently added. For someone who finished a base game but left its expansions untouched, those are two different measures of completion.
TrueAchievements detailed the system on 23 September, citing a source with knowledge of the feature before Microsoft's announcement. Its reporting says Mythics award zero Gamerscore: the recognition does not increase a player's points total. Xbox's announcement confirms the original-list requirement but does not state a points value. Completing the required list, rather than reaching a particular Gamerscore number, is the rule Microsoft has published.
The preview also makes that list easier to follow. A progress bar above a game's achievements shows the distance to Mythic, with an option to focus on the original achievements still missing. Later additions carry an "add-on" label. The new Gaming tab on a profile brings together achievement history and Gamerscore milestones, and lets players inspect friends' Mythic completions.
Past work can count too. Microsoft says eligible games already completed have received Mythic status, including Xbox 360 titles. Its announcement uses the qualification "eligible" without publishing a complete compatibility list, so it should not be read as confirmation for every older game.
This remains an Insider preview. Microsoft has not named a date for general availability or specified participating Insider rings in the announcement. It also leaves unresolved how the system handles original achievements that have become unobtainable after a game's online services close.
