Maneater 2 is heading to PS5 in late 2027, moving the series' destructive bull shark from the open water to a lavish private-island theme park. Tripwire Interactive and Demiurge Studios announced the sequel during September's State of Play, and its initial setting is Neptune's Kingdom: an invite-only preview event that is about to become a disaster. The firm parts of the announcement are the PS5 version, the broad release window and its premise. There is no precise launch day, price, edition list or pre-order date to add to a calendar yet.

A theme park built for a predator

Neptune's Kingdom is presented as a deliberately artificial resort, with its owner using marine research and conservation work to reshape local habitats into attractions. The player controls a female bull shark that is already loose inside the park, able to eat, explore and evolve while trying to escape. Tripwire says the environment brings together tropical waters with recreated Arctic and volcanic areas, so the follow-up is not simply returning to the Gulf Coast location of the first game. The setting is the clearest indication of how the sequel intends to give its shark a new place to move through.

The announcement also points to genetically modified marine life and five genetic modifications for the shark. Those details establish the direction of the progression system, but they do not yet explain how individual upgrades are earned, selected or balanced. Tripwire has described Neptune's Kingdom as an open world, while its PlayStation Blog post calls the shark's goal freedom rather than a linear mission. That gives PS5 players a useful outline of the setup, but not enough evidence yet to say how large the park is or how its regions connect in play.

What is confirmed for PS5

PlayStation's announcement places the game on PS5 in the second half of 2027. Gematsu's independent report also lists Xbox Series consoles, Switch 2 and PC, making this a multiplatform release rather than a PlayStation exclusive. The same report identifies Tripwire Interactive as publisher and Demiurge Studios as developer. The PlayStation Blog says the sequel is the first game in the series made with Unreal Engine 5, and that actor Chris Parnell returns as commentator Trip Westhaven. Those are announced production details, not a promise of a particular frame rate, resolution mode or PS5 feature set.

For now, the practical position is straightforward: Maneater 2 is a PS5 game with a late-2027 window and a wishlist listing, not a dated product page. PlayStation has not confirmed its regional release timing, a digital or physical edition, pricing, accessibility options, online features or any PS5 Pro enhancements. The original's returning narrator and the larger park premise give the sequel a distinct announced identity, but the release plan remains deliberately broad. Players interested in it can watch for a date from Tripwire or PlayStation rather than treating the 2027 window as a more precise commitment.
