To unlock Boris Ursus in Total War: Warhammer III, own the game's full original content and select him for a new Immortal Empires campaign. Boris is available immediately to Warhammer III owners. You can go straight to his campaign instead of first completing a rescue campaign with another Kislev leader.

This applies to the PC game from patch 6.1, released on 25 March 2025. That update removed Boris Ursus's existing character-unlock requirements. The change concerns access to him as a playable campaign leader, so start by checking the new-campaign selection rather than chasing an unfinished quest in an older save.

Select Boris for Immortal Empires

Launch Warhammer III, start a new Immortal Empires campaign and choose Boris Ursus from Kislev's Legendary Lords. If you own the full game, his availability is the useful confirmation: there is no preliminary campaign to finish before choosing him.

The old route through The Frozen Falls quest battle in Realms of Chaos no longer applies to this unlock. You do not need to repeat that battle to make Boris playable in Immortal Empires. Keep the goal specific: this is how to start his campaign, rather than a walkthrough for recruiting him into a campaign led by someone else.

Check which Warhammer III content you own

If Warhammer III appeared in your library because you own Warhammer I or II, check the content entitlement before treating a locked Boris as a fault. From 4 December 2025, that library addition granted Immortal Empires and The Lost God. Access to the application and map alone is different from owning the original Warhammer III Legendary Lords.

Creative Assembly lists the original game's ten Legendary Lords and their associated units and features as content supplied by the Warhammer III Upgrade Pack for those older-game owners. Check your existing purchases before adding anything else. For the wider race and storefront checks, use our Immortal Empires Lord ownership checklist.

If Boris is still locked

Confirm that your installed game is updated and that your library includes the full Warhammer III content. If both are in place and Boris remains unavailable for a new Immortal Empires campaign, contact SEGA Support with his name, your storefront, owned product and game version. Keep the locked-selection message or a screenshot with the report so support can identify the missing access.
