Hades II can carry one adventure between a PC copy on Steam or the Epic Games Store and Nintendo Switch or Switch 2, but the setup is deliberately centred on the Nintendo version. The safest route is to link the storefront account that already owns your progress before making a new save in the same profile slot on the console. Then enter Play on each platform and let the cloud check complete. If the save fails to appear, Supergiant has a specific conflict-resolution method; do not delete files or pick the newest timestamp blindly.

01Know which saves this feature covers

Cross-save is for the PC versions linked to either Steam or the Epic Games Store, and the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions. It is not a general promise that every version of Hades II shares one profile, so keep the guide's scope narrow when you also own the game elsewhere. The Switch and Switch 2 saves are themselves compatible: Nintendo's Local Communication transfer or a microSD Express card can move a save between those two consoles. That is a separate console-to-console transfer route from the PC cross-save menu.

Have the PC storefront account ready before opening the Nintendo cross-save controls. Independent testing published at the 1.0 launch confirms that the console main menu is where the Cross-Saves option appears, while the PC build does not show an equivalent menu item. This is normal rather than a missing setting. The Nintendo version connects to the Steam or Epic cloud save, and the game checks for the matching data when Play is opened. You still need the correct PC account; a different Steam or Epic login will naturally point to different cloud storage.

02Link the PC account on Switch or Switch 2

Start Hades II on the Nintendo console and choose Cross-Saves from the main menu. Select Steam if that is where the established PC save lives, or choose Epic Games if that is the version you play. Complete the account-linking prompt for that storefront, then return to the menu and select Play. The normal sync happens as Play opens, before the profile is chosen. On PC, there is no separate cross-save switch to turn on; launch the game under the same linked Steam or Epic account and open Play after the console has finished syncing.

Protect the profile slot while doing this. Do not begin a fresh Nintendo run in the same numbered slot as the save you intend to import before the account link is complete. A second save creates a choice the cloud system cannot make for you, and later conflict prompts can make a rushed selection destructive. If you are starting on Switch and taking that progress to PC, use the same principle in reverse: link first, let the initial sync finish, and only then decide which available slot is the one you want to continue.

03Force a sync when the console save is missing on PC

Supergiant's current support guide has a recovery path specifically for a Nintendo save that is not appearing on PC after the accounts are connected. On the PC copy, start a new game in the same slot where the Nintendo save should be, then close the game. This uploads data to the relevant cloud storage and creates the conflict that the Nintendo version can display. It sounds counterintuitive, so treat it as a recovery step only after the normal link-and-Play route has failed, not as part of every first-time setup.

Next, launch the game on Switch or Switch 2 and open Play. A cloud conflict should appear for that slot. Select it and choose the save with the most progress, rather than assuming PC or console is always the correct answer. Once it loads, enter a new Location to trigger a save. Pause, select Sync & Quit, then start the PC version again. Supergiant says the cross-save data should then appear there. If both files matter, pause before resolving the conflict and record the progress markers you can see.

04Avoid turning one sync problem into a lost run

Read the conflict screen as a comparison, not a button to dismiss. The sensible file is the one with the furthest progress, which may not be the one made most recently if you opened the wrong platform or profile. Entering a new Location after the choice matters because Supergiant directs players to do so before Sync & Quit; it gives the chosen state a fresh in-game save point. Do not use manual file copying as a substitute for this official route, especially while the game or its cloud client is open.

If the ordinary setup still will not see a PC save, first check the storefront account and the profile slot rather than re-linking random accounts. The support guide also provides recovery instructions for genuinely missing PC progress: while at the main menu, locate the Hades II save folder, find the most recent temporary or backup file for the relevant profile, rename it as instructed, then look for it in Play. That procedure is for local PC recovery, not a replacement for the Nintendo cross-save conflict process.

The GamerGuru verdict

The safe cross-save routine

Link on Nintendo
Use the Cross-Saves menu on Switch or Switch 2 for the Steam or Epic connection.
Let Play sync
Open Play on each platform before creating a competing profile slot.
Resolve carefully
If a conflict appears, select the file with the most progress, save in a new Location, then Sync & Quit.

Keep the same account and profile slot, and the hand-off should be routine rather than risky.
